Use the winter!

With the rain beating in the windows, snow on the hills in the distance of Donegal and not a whole lot of golf to be played it can get a little disheartening for enthusiasts of the game at this time of year. However these pauses allow us to take stock of our game, and do some thinking and assess where we are presently and where we would like to get to. Having just spent time with the GUI Regional Panel at Roe Park Resort this weekend, it was inspiring to see a group of kids working together to come up with a plan for their winter training, incorporating not just technical coaching details of swing, but mindset(growth vs fixed), behaviour, schedules, strength and conditioning and nutrition. Whether you’re a high or a low handicapper, take the time now to plan out some goals, and spend these long dark evenings learning about the game on the Driving Range, or chipping or putting on the hall carpet in the comfort of your own home. Come March when the golf season resumes, you will be able to take confidence from the fact that you have grown and grafted to be the player you want to be.
