Do you let your thoughts get the better of you?
Thoughts are just thoughts...they may be good or bad, but they are not reality. I know when you get on the course and one bad shot creeps in, it’s very easy to let the self doubt and worry creep in that this is how the rest of the round will go.
But a bad thought can be replaced by a good thought in a split second, and we have to learn to just let them come and go. A way to think about this is imagine your dreams. You may have a nightmare involving a horrible event or imaginary monster. But you wake up in the morning, and the nightmare fades away. Bad thoughts on the golf course are just the same. Let them come and go. Take a moment, and look around you, realise how great it is to be outdoors and in the company of your playing partners. If we start to think like this on the course, and not get caught up in every thought that comes into our mind, the game becomes a lot more enjoyable, and you will relax into playing better golf.
