It's just a game...2/365

"It's just a game...sure it's just hitting a wee white ball around the field. Why would you be bothered?"

These are all comments I've had directed to me or heard during my time as a golfer. To me, golf is much more than that, it has been a lifestyle, a passion, and something in which you are able to immerse yourself in. Finding the joy in every aspect of the game has been so important to me, and let's be honest, when else do you get to spend 4 or 5 hours in the company of your friends or family without the distractions of modern life.

I've included a picture that I took whilst standing at the side of the 18th fairway at Royal Portrush as Shane Lowry strode to victory in the Open Championship earlier this year. Look at the enthusiasm of the crowd, all these strangers brought together by golf. I know I had a tremendous sense of excitement and elation at the time, and it felt like something very special was taking place.

To me, that's what is so important about the game, that it allows you to connect with others, to share a passion and emotions. Whether that's taking your child to the Driving Range for the first time, or talking about the latest golf equipment with your buddy, it brings people together. Go play a game, and share your passion with others. Get immersed in it.
