McCormick and Dunn seal wins at Roe Park
There was a huge turnout in the competitions at Roe Park last week with the season now well and truly underway as the weather finally showed signs of improving. The course was in great shape with the green keepers working hard as always to get the course ready for a very busy season at the resort. First up was a Spring League stableford competition on Thursday won by Andy Dunn who scored a superb 40 points. Malcolm Stuart was runner-up with 38 points and Phillip McKeever was third with 36 points.
The weekend’s Spring League club stableford saw a huge turnout with players trying to gain vital points for their team. Gary McCormick certainly helped his team by scoring an excellent 41 points for the victory. Derek Simpson also scored 41 points but had to settle for the runner-up spot after count back. Declan Quigley had a superb back nine score to ensure his total of 40 points was enough for third place. Nigel Mearns won the best gross prize thanks to his brand new Taylormade M3 Driver he bought from and was custom fitted by Resident PGA Professional Michael McCrudden.
